Overcoming the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and a deferred start to the 2020 Olympics that has hampered their training, Sri Lanka’s nine-member will carry the hopes of the nation when they travel to Japan for this month’s Tokyo 2020 games.
Among Sri Lanka’s contingent, that also includes athletes who have previously competed in the Olympic Games, are teenagers Milka Gehani and Aniqah Gaffoor, who will take part in the games more as diamonds in the rogue, with an eye to the future, rather than the finished articles.
This contingent will also include the first athletes to represent the country in the gymnastics and equestrian competitions of the Olympic Games.
The NOC has partnered with several corporate entities to ensure that the requirements of the athletes for the games are met, with Hirdramani Group and Brandix leading the way as Presenting Partners.
Among the other partners are Associated Partners - MAS and Sunshine Holdings; Official Broadcasting Partners – Rupavahini and Channel Eye; and Activity Partners - Eventistry (Official Marketing Partner), Daraz (Official Digital Partner), LOVI (Official Lifestyle Partner), Swarrnavahini Media Group (Official Electronic Media Partner), Richardson (Official Outdoor Media Partner), and PG Martin (Official Accessories Provider).
