Thushan Silva wins silver at Asian Youth Athletic Meet

Thushan Silva Of Mahinda College Galle won Silver in the Pole Vault boys’ final at the 5th Asian Youth (Under 18) Athletic Championship 2023 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan yesterday. 
Seven athletes (5 boys and 2 girls) from Sri Lanka participated in the Asian youth athletic championship which started yesterday and is conducted by the Asian Athletic Association.
This was the first medal won by Sri Lanka. 

This event will run until April 30.

Silva cleared a height of 4.70m.

Meanwhile, Jathya Kirulu of Negombo Maris Stella College qualified for the finals of the Boys’ 400m event by completing the first heat of 48.57sec.
