Tough challenge awaits Lankan U-23 footballers in Qatar

Sri Lanka will be up against Qatar in their AFC Under-23 Asia Cup Qualifying Round Group ‘A’ second match in Doha, Qatar today. The kick-off is at 8:00 p.m. (Sri Lanka time).
Sri Lanka lost to Syria 0-5 in their opening fixture of the tournament and they are set to receive another tough challenge as their opponents are currently third in the AFC Rankings.
In fact, Qatar and Syria are currently on top of Group ‘A’ after having won their opening matches. The winners of this group will qualify to play in the AFC 2022 Asia Cup final round.       
Sri Lanka’s third and last game of the tournament will be against Yemen on October 31.


The Sri Lanka Team had their final preparations yesterday and they are set to come out with an improved performance today.
