Trinity and Rathnayake MMV claim major honours

Trinity College (226 points) and A. Rathnayake MMV, Walala (382 points) won the Boys’ and Girls’ titles respectively at the Central Province Inter-Schools Athletic Championship 2024 held at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium in Matale.  

In fact, Rathnayake MMV were able to retain the Girls’ championship for the 30th successive year at this meet, which was conducted by the Central Province Education Department.  

Rathnayake MMV claimed the runners-up position in the Boys’ Championship while Ambagamuwa MMV took the runners-up place in the Girls’ Championship.  

Dharmaraja College and Girls’ High School, Kandy won third place in the Boys’ and Girls’ Championship respectively.  

Meanwhile, Kandy Zone with 946 points won the overall zonal championship, while Wattegama Zone emerged runners-up and Matale Zone secured third place.  
Over 5,000 athletes from 15 education zones in Kandy participated in this meet.
