Trinity win TT and basketball while S. Thomas’ College take hockey honours

Trinity College Kandy hosted S. Thomas’ College, in their annual hockey, basketball and table tennis encounters.

The hockey event took place at the Asgiriya Stadium while the basketball match was played at the Trinity College courts and the Table tennis took place at the Kandy Municipal Indoor Stadium
in Suduhumpola.

The Thomians won the Neville de Alwis Memorial Shield when they won 4-2. At the short breather Thomians led 3-0.

The Thomians scored through A. Lafir, J. David, K. Perera and S. Khan while the hosts, while the Trinitians scored through Diluka Thrilakshana and Kasthuri Jayalath.

Sasika Seneviratne (Trinity) won the best defensive player award while Dulmeth Perera (S.Thomas’) won the best offensive player and Shehan Eshwara (S.Thomas’) won the best goalkeeper awards.

Meanwhile, Trinity won the Under 16 encounter 1-0 played for the B. S. G. Sahayam Shield while the Old Boys encounter played for Mirzan Ousmand Trophy was won by the Old Thomians 2-1. Trinity beat S. Thomas’ in the Under 12 match played for Indra de Soysa Shield. In the Nalanda Ellawala Trophy 

encounter played in the Under 19 age group the hosts won 3-1. Trinity beat the Thomians in the Under 18 encounter 35-25 but unfortunately the Under 20 encounter could not be completed due to heavy rain and lightning in Central Region. The Under 20 encounter was played for Late Wing Commander Eksith Peiris Memorial Trophy. (Shamseer Jaleel)
