The Inter-Schools Under-19 League Rugby Tournament will continue with the clash between the unbeaten D. S. Senanayake College and St. Anthony’s College at Havelock Park today. The kick-off is at 4.15 p.m.
D. S. Senanayake, led by fly half Shehanda Umagiliyage, have chalked up back-to-back wins against Dharmaraja College (44-12) and Trinity College (14-10) and are favoured to maintain their unbeaten record.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony’s, led by scrum half Oshan Gunaratne are yet to see the winning post will be coming into the field looking for their first win.
D. S. Senanayake will start the game with their heads high and also with confidence after their top performance against Trinity College whom they defeated for the first time last week.
In fact, Skipper Shehanda will be the player to watch for the Antonians as so far he has been in the thick of happenings whilst leading the side from the front.
He will have some reliable players in the likes of Janidu Wijeratne, Omika Lison, Thimath Jinthula, Chamod Dewmith, Chenitha Welgamage and Malith Samarakoon from whom much will be expected.
The Antonians on the other hand cannot be satisfied with their performances so far and they will need to get their act together if they are to make any impression against their gritty opponents.
Skipper Oshan has not been able to make any headway and the Antonians will bank on the player in the likes of Ravindu Welagedera, Omitha Dissanayake, Akesh Sampath and Mohamed Faraz who have so far been in the limelight in their two matches.
However, on paper, D. S. Senanayake look well set to chalk-up their third successive win
of the tournament.
