Under 16 World Scrabble Champion Adheesha Dissanayake of Gateway College wins Under 16 championship

Sri Lanka’s Adheesha Dissanayake won the Under 16 title at the recently concluded WESPA Youth Cup 2022.  

Dissanayake, a student of Gateway College, was among a Sri Lankan contingent that performed  creditably by becoming the best team in the championship.  

Dissanayake was also placed fifth in the Under 18 category behind Ali Salman of Pakistan,  
Madhav Kamath of India, Hasham Hadi Khan of Pakistan and Ronnie Bennett 
of Australia.  

His teammate Sandali Vithanage of Musaeus College secured eighth position. Hivin Dilmith of Mahinda College was the other team member of the Sri Lankan team.  

Vithanage was recognized as the best female youth scrabbler of the tournament.
