Under 17 Cricket: Ananda clash against Maris Stella in quarter final

The quarter finals of the Under 17 Division Two inter school limited over tournament is scheduled to get underway from today with the first clash between Ananda College, Colombo ‘B’ and Maris Stella Thimbirigaskatuwa slotted to be played at St. Sebastian’s ground in Moratuwa today.  

Ananda ‘B’ led by Pamith Kumaratunga advanced to the quarter finals as leaders of Group ‘A’ having ended the league segment by winning all their matches and then defeating St. Thomas’ Bandarawela in the pre quarter final.  

Maris Stella led by Dulein Perera qualified to the quarter finals having ended as the second best team in Group ‘E’ before getting the better of Prince of Wales ‘B’ in the pre quarter final.  
The tournament saw the participation of 48 teams which was divided into eight groups with the top two teams in each group qualifying to the quarter finals.  

Apart from Ananda Colombo ‘B’ and Maris Stella College Thimbirigaskatuwa, the other teams to book berths were Hindu College Jaffna, Nalanda Colombo ‘B’, Maliyadeva Model School Kurunegala, Royal Colombo ‘B’, St. Peter’s Bambalapitiya ‘B’ and Gamini National School Bentota.
