Swashbuckling knocks by Levin Fernando and Hasindu Perera helped Maris Stella College Negombo to record a massive 377 runs win over St. Peter’s College Negombo in the Under 17 Division One inter-school cricket tournament encounter played at Negombo.
Levin slammed a 130 ball knock of 188 inclusive of 22 boundaries and eight sixes while Hasindu cracked 176 runs in only 99 balls which included 18 boundaries and 13 sixes for Maris Stella taking first lease of the wicket to make a mammoth score of 508 for 6.
Levin was involved in two valuable partnerships first an opening wicket stand of 154 runs with Randeera de Silva who made 66 and the other of 222 runs for the third wicket with Hasindu. St. Peter’s in their run chase succumbed to Maris Stella’s bowling trio Ramith Bandara, Angelo Dilash and Hasindu who together shred nine wickets between them for a low score of 131 runs.
In the other matches St. Benedict’s College, St. Antnony’s College Wattala, Richmond College, St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa, Isipathana College, Ananda College and Lumbini MV recorded wins.
