Half tons by Shevan Menusha, Dinosh Jelon and Thisanga Semith and a five- wicket haul by Dinidu Sasmitha helped De Mazenod College to record a convincing 138 run win over St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa in the semi-final encounter of the Under 17 Division One inter-school cricket tournament played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake.
Shevan cracked 65 in 80 balls that included seven boundaries and a six and shared a 104-run stand for the fourth wicket with Thisanga who made 50 with four boundaries.
Later Dinosh slammed a quick 35 ball knock of 51 with four boundaries and three sixes for the Mazenodians taking first lease of the wicket to make a modest score of 231 runs.
St. Sebastian’s was never going to be in the run chase as they lost their top five wickets for 52 runs and then slid to 66 for 8 with Sasmitha doing the damage before being bundled out for just 93 runs.
De Mazenod will now meet Prince of Wales College in the scheduled to be played next week.
