Under 19 Cricket Pasan, Hiran crack tons in drawn game

A career best knock of 156 inclusive of eight boundaries and nine sixes by St. Benedict’s College skipper Pasan Suwahas and an unbeaten ton by Hiran Jayasundara were the highlights of the drawn Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Darley Road yesterday.


Suwahas’ knock helped St. St. Benedict’s  College resuming from their overnight score of 181 for 5 made 242 while Jayasundara’s ton which had five boundaries and four sixes. He put on an unbroken stand of 139 runs for the fourth wicket with Muditha Lakshan who made 55 enabled St. Joseph’s College in their turn to end the day with a formidable score of 280 for 3.
Nalanda College and Trinity College also featured a draw in another match concluded at Campbell Place yesterday. The second day’s play saw Trinity resuming from their overnight score of 267 for 9 making 275, Nalanda in their turn found Manula Kularatne who ended with a six wicket haul too hot to handle and was bowled out for 143 runs.  Nalanda College made to follow on with a deficit of of 127 runs helped by a knock of 67 from Vinuja Ranpul fared better to end the day on 153 for 7.
