Under 19 Cricket Sixteen teams advance to quarter finals

The completion of the Under 19 Division One Tier ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories limited over tournament round robin matches last week which was contested by 20 teams in the Tier ‘A’ and 18 teams in Tier ‘B’ saw sixteen teams, eight from each qualifying to the quarter finals.  


The eight teams to book the berth in the Tier ‘A’ were last year’s champion Trinity College, runner up Richmond College; S. Thomas College’ leaders of Group Y1 who were the only team to remain unbeaten, De Mazenod College leaders of X1, St Joseph’s College Colombo, Royal College, Mahanama College Colombo, and St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa.  
In the Tier ‘B’ category where 18 teams were in action saw defending champions St. Peter’s and runner up Thurstan making it the quarter finals along with Ananda, St. Sebastian’s Katuneriya, Lumbini MV, St. Aloysius Galle, Dharmaraja and Mahinda Galle.  


The prevailing weather is going to be crucial as some of the matches in the round robin were abandoned. Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association the organizers of the tournament have made arrangements to start the quarter final matches from November 11 for which the venues have not been finalized yet.  


The quarter final schedule of the two categories:  

Tier ‘A’:

De Mazenod Kandana vs St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa. Trinity vs Mahanama. St. Joseph’s vs Richmond Galle. Royal Colombo vs S. Thomas’ Mt. Lavinia.  


Tier ‘B’:

Ananda vs St. Sebastian’s Katuneriya. St. Peter’s vs Lumbini MV. St. Aloysius’ Galle vs Mahinda Galle. Dharmaraja vs Thurstan.
