Under 19 Cricket Tharinda, Thamindu put Richmond on top

Tharinda Nirmal cracked 76 inclusive of nine boundaries and Thamindu Pradeeptha made 59 with six boundaries and two sixes to put Richmond College on top against St. Servatius’ College Matara at the end of the first day’s play in the Under 19 interschool cricket encounter played at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara yesterday.


The pair shared a valuable 128 runs stand for the second wicket for Richmond taking first lease of the wicket to make a formidable score of 264 for 7 declared. St. Servatius’ in their turn was made to work had for their runs as they ended the day struggling on 67 for 7.


Eveen Kalhara made an unbeaten knock of 70 with eight boundaries and a six as he came to the rescue of Maris Stella College Negombo when they were in a bad position of 116 for 6 to end with a respectable score of 223 runs against St. Joseph’s College who ended day one 70 for 1 in the match played at Darley Road.


Dharmaraja College helped by a knock of 81 from Sachintha Dissanayake made 194 against Maliyadeva College who ended the first day’s play on 23 for no loss in the match played at Kurunegala.
