Under 19 Cricket Two quarter-finals down for decision today

The long awaited quarter-finals of the Under 19 inter-schools limited over tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association with support from Sri Lanka Cricket which was postponed due to the inclement weather that prevailed is scheduled to get underway from today with two quarter-finals of the Division One Tier ‘B’ segment down for decision at Darley Road and Thurstan ground in Colombo.   

Traditional rivals Isipathana College and Thurstan College will clash at St. Joseph’s ground in Darley Road while Maris Stella College Negombo will confront St. Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa at the Thurstan Grounds with the matches scheduled to be worked off from 9.30 a.m.   

Isipathana vs Thurstan

Isipathana led by Naveen Kanishka ended the league stage in the second spot in their group having recorded seven wins from eight matches and will be aiming to make a repeat of having qualified to the semi-finals last year while Thurstan led by Shanikya Deshapriya won six matches from the eight they played and secured the third spot in their group.   

Maris Stella vs St. Joseph Vaz

Maris Stella led by Kaveen Fernando too will be looking forward to make it into the semis as last year and in the run-up to the quarter-finals they ended as the second team in their group with six wins from eight outings while St. Joseph Vaz led by Menusha Perera entered the quarter-finals having secured the fourth spot in their group with five wins from eight matches.
