Richmond record big win, Ananda crash to fourth defeat

By M. Shamil Amit

Richmond College, helped by a fine knock by Tharinda Nirmal and a match bag of eight wickets by Malsha Tharupathi, recorded a convincing 112-run win over Ananda College, who crashed to a fourth successive outright defeat in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Galle.

A ton by Senura Silva and two fine bowling performances by Deshan Hettige and Poorna Sulakshana paved the way for D.S. Senanayake College to coast to an innings and 40-run win over Zahira College Colombo in the match played at Wijerama Mawatha.

An unbeaten quick-fire knock of 150 in just 102 balls inclusive of eight boundaries and 13 sixes by Ananthan Kajan enabled Jaffna Central coast to a massive innings and 209-run win over St. Patrick’s College Jaffna in the match played at Jaffna.

Tissa Central Kalutara, St. John’s College Nugegoda and Maris Stella Thimibirigastuwa recorded a comfortable outright win over Revatha MMV Balapitiya, De La Salle College Mutwal and Carey College in the matches played at Balapitiya, Muthuwella and Mount Mary.
