Under 19 Limited Over Final St. Peter’s, Thurstan clash for supremacy

St. Peter’s College will meet Thurstan College in the final of the Under 19 Division One Tier ‘B’ inter-schools limited over cricket tournament at Police Park today.   

St. Peter’s will take the field under the leadership of Sri Lanka youth player Wanuja Sahan while Thurstan will be led by Bawantha Jayasinghe.   

On their way to the final the Peterites had a successful run as they chalked up wins in the round robin stage against Mahinda College, St. Anthony’s College Wattala, Dharmaraja College Kandy and Dharmapala College Pannipitiya and then followed it up by with another win against Mahinda College in the quarter-final before defeating Isipathana College in the semi-final.   

Thurstan on the other hand made it to the final by recording wins in the round robin stage against Ananda College, Zahira College and Dharmasoka MV Ambalangoda. They defeated Lumbini MV in the quarter-final and then overcame Maris Stella College Negombo in the semi-final.

However the Peterites are coming out as the hot favourites but they cannot afford to take the Thurstanites lightly as they too will be coming into the game with the aim of laying their hands on the trophy.
