Under 19 Limited Over Ruveen helps De Mazenod knockout Nalanda

A fine knock of 51 by Ruveen Fonseka, supported by an unbeaten 41 by Mithul Senarath helped De Mazenod College coast to a convincing eight-wicket win over the high riding unbeaten Nalanda College in the quarter- final encounter of the Under 19 Division One Tier A inter-schools limited over tournament played at Mt. Lavinia yesterday.   

The strong Nalanda team who ended their league campaign with an unbeaten record was nowhere near their earlier performances.Taking first lease of the wicket they were bundled out for a low score of 120 runs with Senash Fernando being the main destroyer.   

The Mazenodians in their run chase saw top scorer Fonseka guiding the side as he was associated in two valuable partnerships first an opening wicket stand of 42 runs with Lester Jayaweera followed by a valuable 71 -run stand for the second wicket with Mithul Senarath helping them to reach the target in the 33rd over to book a berth in the semi -final.   
Meanwhile Sri Devananda MV Ambalangoda recorded a close 26- run win over Lyceum IS Wattala in a quarter-final encounter of Under 19 Division Two Tier A limited over encounter played at Moratuwa to advance to the semi-final.   

Sri Devananda MV taking first lease of the wicket made 179 runs and bowled out their opponents for a score of 153 runs.
