Under 19 Quarter Final Kaveesha, Chehan put Richmond on top

Right arm paceman Kaveesha Induwara and opening batsman Chehan Subasinghe shone for Richmond College to come out on top against Nalanda College on day one of the Under 19 Division One Tier ‘A’ two day quarter final encounter played at Narahenpita.  
Induwara ended with an impressive match figures of 6 for 33 for Richmond to bowl out Nalanda taking first lease of the wicket for a low score of 95 runs and this followed with Chehan Subasinghe cracking 51 with three boundaries and a six and sharing two valuable partnerships with the first an opening wicket stand of 59 with Nikil Jayaweera and a second wicket stand of 46 runs with Thamindu Pradeeptha for Richmond to end the day in a strong position of 115 for 2.  


Meanwhile Thurstan College helped by a 85 ball knock of 82 inclusive of nine boundaries and two sixes by Tanuja Rajapakse have put themselves in a strong position against Mahinda College Galle in the Under 19 Division One Tier ‘B’ quarter final encounter played at the Irrigation ground in Ratmalana.  
Mahinda taking first lease of the wicket was restricted for a score of 161 runs with skipper Dinura Kalupahana making a top score of 64 and Thurstan in their turn ended day one on 174 for 7.  
The matches will be continued today.
