Vandersay and Mendis leave for UK today

Jeffrey Vandersay and Kamindu Mendis, who are part of the Sri Lanka Test Squad, will travel to England today.  
The duo did not travel with the squad, which departed for England on August 11, as the players were yet to receive their UK visas at the time of team departure.  
Leg-spinner Vandersay played his lone Test match in June 2022 against Australia and his return to the longer format set-up comes on the back of picking six wickets for 33 against India in the second ODI in Colombo, where he replaced injured leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.  
Vandersay is now amongst the three spin options alongside Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis.  
Meanwhile, All-rounder Mendis comes into the side in the backdrop of a stellar performance in Bangladesh where he won the Player of the Series Award in Sri Lanka’s 2-0 series triumph.
