Veteran athlete and administrator P. Don Victor laid to rest

The final rites of veteran athlete and administrator P. Don Victor took place recently. He was 88 at the time of his death.


Sri Lanka’s long jump champion in the 1950s and a Ceylon  (national) record holder, P. Don Victor represented the country at 1958 Tokyo Asian Games and Cardiff Commonwealth Games.


He was General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Amateur Athletic Association from 1986 to 1991.


He stood out as an administrator becoming a Council memeber of the Asian Athletic Association for five years.
He held office in two of Sri Lanka’s oldest athletic clubs - Ace SC and Lanka Lions SC and played a great role in developing the sport in the country.
