Veteran athletics official G.L.S. Perera heads Technical Officials sub-committee

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) has appointed veteran athletics Administrator G.L.S. Perera as Chairman of its Technical Officials and Media sub-committee.

  
An official who held various positions in SLA from the 70s, G.L.S. Perera has also officiated in international competitions. He has offered his technical support in countries like Malaysia, Poland and England.  
He rendered yeoman service as a technical official to the Malaysia Athletics Association when they hosted the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games.  

A Vice President of SLA, he is one of the longest serving officials in the sport of athletics.  

Meanwhile, Olympian Damayanthi Darsha has been appointed head of the women’s sub-committee. She is the only women Vice President to be elected to the SLA.  

Darsha won three gold medals at the Asian Games and four gold medals at the Asian Championships.  
Chairpersons of 11 sub-committees have been formed by the Executive Committee of SLA for the period 2021-2025.
