Both DS Senanayake College (‘B’ division champions) and giant killers of school rugby, Vidyartha College, settled to share the Cup after their final ended in a 10-all draw at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium in their Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) Under-20 seven-a-side final yesterday. The game was played in semi-darkness, with the ground looking similar to a paddy field.

Vidyartha scored first through Dilshan Balasuriya, to which DS replied through their skipper, Seneviratne, with a try. Wenura Perera then scored the second DS try, but Vidyartha drew level through a try by Chethana Bandara.

DS missed a try in the last minute of the game with a knock-on as the ball handling was tough with the game played under wet conditions throughout the 14 minutes.

St. Peter’s and coach Sanath Martis ended the season with a Plate win over Wesley while the Antonians settled for the Bowl trophy.
