Former Sri Lanka cricketer Vinothen John has been appointed as a tour manager for the women’s team, it is learnt.
According to well-placed sources at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the 61-year-old ex-right arm fast bowler will manage the national women’s team tour of Malaysia for the upcoming ICC Commonwealth Games Qualifier.
Incidentally, John, who in the past has acted as a selector for the men’s and women’s teams, Manager for “A” team and LPL team, and also as an observer and match-referee, is believed to have sent his resume for the Manager’s post in response to SLC’s advertisement.

SLC has also appointed Mrs. Indrani Ariyaratne as Chaperone on this tour. She will be a coordinator for the players and logistics officer.

The women’s team is scheduled to return on January 26.

The Malaysian Cricket Board and the ICC have appointed doctors to carry out PCR tests for all participating players and support staff.
