Volleyball community mourns death of veteran official Captain Jayasiri Perera

The volleyball fraternity mourned the passing away of renowned volleyball player and former national-level Indoor and Beach volleyball match referee, Captain Jayasiri Perera of the Sri Lanka Army, whose funeral took place at the Nelligaha Cemetery, Makola.

Jayasiri, who has been in the volleyball sphere for four decades, is also a former selection committee member of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation.

In 1974, he was the first Sri Lankan volleyball winner of colours, and in 1976, he was selected to represent Sri Lanka in the tours of Pakistan and China.

Jayasiri, who represented the Sri Lanka Army Volleyball Team for many years, is a veteran player who entered the game of volleyball through the Udupila Sisira Sports Club.
