Wanindu becomes number one ranked bowler in T20I cricket

Sri Lanka all rounder Wanindu Hasaranga returned to the top spot of the ICC Men's T20I bowlers ranking, on the back of his strong returns during the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Hasaranga sits atop the list for wicket-takers at the tournament, having taken 15 wickets before Sri Lanka's exit last week, and replaces Afghanistan's Rashid Khan as the top bowler in T20I cricket.

Hasaranga held the ranking last November, having taken the most wickets at the 2021 T20 World Cup, taking over from South Africa's Tabraiz Shamsi, before Shamsi reclaimed the position in February this year.
