Amalka Weerasinghe from Hemas Holdings and Malinda Perera from Melwire Rolling were the first to hog the limelight in the New Year, in the ongoing 2nd “CBL – Munchee” Trophy – MCA “D” division 40-over League Tournament 2022 continued on Sunday 02nd January.
Amalka Weerasinghe hit a quick-fire 105 in 93 balls, inclusive of six sixes and 10 fours, which helped Hemas Holdings to score an unexpected 34-run win on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method, over David Pieris Group of Companies.
Melwire Rolling’s medium pacer Malinda Perera with a splendid spell of bowling (7.5-01-30-5) sent Delmage Group crashing to a nine-wicket defeat.
Melwire Rolling knocked the required runs in just 10.2 overs with opening batsman P. Sasanka scoring a brisk 56 not out. On the same day, the 19th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored “DPGC “ Challenge Trophy – MCA “E” division 30 Over League Tournament 2022 continued with a solitary game.
At Thurstan College grounds, Stafford Motor Co. tasted their first defeat, losing to LOLC by six wickets.
