Windies make it two in two

West Indies Under-19 recorded their second win in as many games as they beat England Under-19 by 71 runs on the DLS method in their Under-19 Cricket World Cup Group ‘B’ matchup at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley, South Africa today (20).

West Indies compiled 267 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs on the back of half centuries from Kelvon Anderson (86 n.o.) and Nyeem Young, who made a quick-fire 66 off 41 deliveries.

Right-arm-seamer Young returned to take 5 for 45 with the ball and derail the English reply, leaving West Indies well ahead of the equation when rain came down in the 44th over of the chase.

Meanwhile, Australia Under-19 cruised to a thumping victory over Nigeria Under-19 in their Group ‘B’ encounter played at the Country Club ‘B’ Field, also in Kimberley.

The Nigerians, playing in their first Youth World Cup, had a rough initiation as they folded for just 61 runs, with leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha taking 5 for 14.

The Australian openers polished off the chase without any hiccups to ensure a comfortable 10-wicket win.
