An unbeaten 110 in 126 inclusive of seven boundaries and two sixes by skipper Nilakshi de Silva helped Team Red record a comfortable 93 runs win over Team Green to begin the Women’s Super Four limited over tournament campaign on a winning note in the match played at the BRC ground.

Team Red taking first lease of the wicket after skipper Nilakshi won the toss underwent an early setback as they lost two quick wickets in two overs with the score on three.
But skipper Nilakshi stood tall as she associated in two valuable partnerships first a brief stand of 37 runs for the third wicket with Prasadani Weerakkodi and the other a valuable 93 runs for the sixth wicket with Sachini Nisansala which helped them to end their innings with a score of 209 for 8.

Team Green in their run chase put them in a spot of bother as they lost their first four wickets with just 14 runs on board in the sixth overs as Tharika Sewwandi who ended with a four wicket haul had them struggling.

Despite a brief stand of 38 runs for the fifth wicket between Piyumi Wathsala and Hasini Perera and stubborn knock by Udeshika Prabodani it was going to be a daunting task for Team Green and they could come into terms with the bowlers of Team Red and was able to muster a score of only 116 runs.
