Vavuniya Women recorded a big 139-run win over Mullaitivu Women in their first match of the Women’s Under 23 Inter-District T20 tournament match played at the Vavuniya Public ground. Vavuniya Women taking first lease of the wicket made a formidable score of 167 and Mullaitivu Women in their turn were able to muster a score of only 28 runs.
Jaganathan Thevahi and Selvarasa Kristiga shared eight wickets between them to help Jaffna Women coast to a comfortable eight wicket win over Kilinochchi Women at Jaffna.
In the other matches that were played saw Kalutara Women, Ratnapura Women and Galle Women recording wins against Colombo North Women, Badulla Women and Moneragala Women.
The tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket is being contested by 15 teams and divided into three groups comprising Kalutara, Colombo North, Colombo and Gampaha from Western Province. Ratnapura, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Moneragala and Badulla from Southern Province and Mannar, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi from Northern Province.

At Vaddukoddai – Jaffna Women won by eight wickets
Kilinochchi Women 47 in 13.4 overs (K. Thusjanthini 31: Jaganathan Thevahi 5 for 18, Selvarasa Kristiga 3 for 3)
Jaffna Women 48 for 2 in 8.2 overs
At Kotte – Kalutara Women won by nine runs
Kalutara Women 128 for 7 in 20 overs (Navodya Nethmini 47, Savindi Cooray 24)
Colombo North Women 119 for 8 in 20 overs (Manudi Nanayakkara 51: Savindi Cooray 3 for 22)
At Badulla – Ratnapura Women won by eight wickets
