World University Sports Day celebrations

The International Day of University Sports, announced by the International University Sports Association and UNESCO, and organised by the Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association, will be held tomorrow (20) at the Colombo University premises.

This event was inaugurated in 2016 to promote mutual harmony through sports among the entire university student community, and the event was held for the first time in Sri Lanka in 2020 at the University of Kelaniya.
Last year, the event was held at the Sri Jayewardenepura University using Zoom.

Meanwhile, several new features have been planned for this year’s celebration at the Colombo University, and more than 300 selected students representing all the State Universities of the island are expected to participate.
The event, which is to be held in the presence of the Vice-Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Senior Professor Chandana P. Udawatte, will be attended by many dignitaries, including directors of physical education and instructors from all the state universities in the island.
