YMCA Moratuwa conducts 11th open Junior Badminton Championship-2024

The 11th open Annual Badminton tournament for youngsters under 11 and 13 was organised and conducted successfully by the YMCA Moratuwa at its indoor sports complex recently, revealed the Chairman of its Sports Committee J.S.A. Fernando. This tournament organised by the YMCA Moratuwa attracted entries from more than 100 up and coming youngsters who exhibited a high standard of talent.   

The Chief Guest at the Finals and the Presentation ceremony was the President of YMCA Moratuwa Ms.Nilani Manthrinayake Attorney-at-Law. Directors of YMCA-Moratuwa together with parents and well-wishers of players attended this tourney which has become a popular event in the YMCA’s Annual Calendar. Obliging services of Chandana Nilantha (International umpire) and Kasun Sigera (Referee) were available throughout this tournament. Winners and runners up received valuable gifts, medals and Certificates. Among the main sponsors of the tournament were Lalith Perera-Vice President of WPBA; Astron Lanka (Pvt.)Ltd.; H.S. Marketing(PVT.) Ltd.and Puwakaramba Agencies. Chairman Fernando appreciated the services of the staff of YMCA Moratuwa towards the success of this tournament.

Under 11-Boys
Winner: Nisira Mendis, Runner–up: Manul Fernando   

Under 11- Girls-
Winner: Dulaya Thewsari Bataduwaarachchi, Runner-up: K.Romasha Ferdinando

Under 13- Boys -
Winner: H.Udan Sethmina Peiris, Runner up: Sanira Mendis   

Under 13 Girls -
Winner: Menara Sethuli, Runner up: Methuki Nethaya
