South Asia’s fastest sprinter and 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallist Yupun Abeykoon produced another fine performance to win the Gold Medal in the Men’s 100m event at the Diamond League (B-Series) Meet in Stockholm, Sweden.
Abeykoon powered his way to win the race with a time of 10.22s but yet again he missed the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Qualifying standard time of 10.00s.
Yupun participated in four international events in April/May and returned a season-best time of 10.15s at the Anhalt Athletic Meet in Dessau, Germany.
Earlier, Abeykoon clocked 10.18s to secure third place in the Men’s 100m event at the UAE Grand Prix in Dubai and clocked 10.21s to finish fourth at the Roma Sprint Festival 2024.
Yupun started his 2024 international season after an injury by claiming the Men’s 150m event in his very first outing clocking his second fastest time ever finishing in 15.19s.
It is also significant that Yupun holds the Asian record for the 150m event by completing it with a time of 15.16s.
