The All Share Price Index picked  22.03 points to close at 6,657.9 points (+0.3%), whilst the Milanka Price Index marginally dipped to close at 7,061.3 points (-0.0%).

The total turnover was LKR1,979.2 mn (USD17,835.6 k)  vs. 12-month average daily turnover of LKR2,402.2 mn (USD21,647.3k) whilst the volume traded for the day was 47,502.9 k against the 12-month average daily volume of 75,110.0 k.

Top traded counters were John keells Holdings LKR242.2 mn (USD2,182.5 k, +0.3%) Bairaha Farms LKR216.5 mn (USD1950.9 k, +16.3%), PC House LKR153.1 mn  (USD1379.6 k, +18.5%),Colombo Fort Land and Building LKR88.2 mn (USD794.8 k, +10.4%) and Lanka Orix Leasing Company LKR85.2 mn (USD767.8k, +0.9%)

Colombo Bourse began the year on a positive notion, although MPI made a marginal dip towards the latter part of the day. Institutions dominated the market today, where strong institutional play was evident in heavy weight John Keells Holdings. Institutions and high-net worth investors were seen  active in Bairaha Farms whilst retail investors were active in PC House and Colombo fort land building. Further institutional play was evident in LOLC during the day.

Net outflow of foreign funds was seen during the day, where foreign purchases amounted to LKR285.9 mn (USD2,577.0 k), whilst foreign sales amounted to LKR342.9 mn (USD3,090.7 k).

Market capitalization is at LKR2,178.1 bn. YTD market performance is up 96.7%.
