Market tumbles

Market tumbled down further today with benchmark indices slipping into red zone while the overall sentiment was negative. ASI dropped 92.96 points (-1.47%) to close at 6,239.52 while more sensitive MPI closed at 5,535.74, a dip of 116.13 points (-2.05%).
 
Market turnover stood at Rs.518.8mn.
 
Asiri Surgical Hospital Plc (Rs.43.1mn) was the top contributor to the market turnover followed by Dialog Axiata Plc (Rs.41.1mn) and John Keells Holdings Plc (Rs.36.1mn).
 
Richard Pieris Exports Plc emerged as the top gainer of the day. Meanwhile, HVA Foods Plc and Softlogic Holdings Plc   demonstrated more investor participation during the day.
 
There were no off the floor deals for the day.
 
Foreign participation was lower and it accounted for 7.0% of the total market activity. Foreign investors ended as net sellers with a net outflow of Rs.29.4mn.
