The All Share Price Index gained 41.7 points to close at 6,997.9 (+0.6%), whilst the more liquid Milanka Price Index also gained 34.4 points to close at 6,327.5 (+0.6%).
The total turnover was LKR5,809.9 mn (USD52,769.3k) vs. 12-month average daily turnover of LKR2,599.4 mn (USD23,609.4) whilst the volume traded for the day was 164,089.3k against the 12-month average daily volume of 115,320.8k.
Top traded counters were John Keells Holdings LKR3,725.4 mn (USD33,836.5k, +1.2%), Browns Investments LKR218.1 mn (USD1,980.9k, +7.3%), HVA Foods LKR213.0 mn (USD1,934.6k, +3.3%), Citrus Leisure LKR193.9mn (USD1,761.1k, +4.2%) and LKR90.3mn (USD820.2k, -9.3%).
Colombo bourse closed in a cheerful note with both indices gaining during the day. The top traded counter of the day, John Keells Holdings contributed for circa 64% to the daily turnover on the back of institutional and high net worth investor interest. Further the counter saw 17.2 mn shares changing hands during the day whilst all round investor interest was evident in Browns Investments, HVA Foods, Citrus Leisure and Blue Diamonds Jewellery (Non voting)
Net outflow of foreign funds were seen during the day, where foreign purchases amounted to LKR204.2mn (USD1,854.7k), whilst foreign sales amounted to LKR3,890.0 mn (USD35,331.5k).
