IMRA Awards for Excellence 2024: Celebrating Outstanding Muslim Women Achievers in Sri Lanka.

As anticipation builds for the inaugural IMRA Awards, which aim to recognize the accomplishments of Muslim women in Sri Lanka, preparations are well underway for the highly anticipated Awards Ceremony. Organized by the All Ceylon Muslim Women’s Association in collaboration with the Denara Training Institute, spearheaded by the dynamic Mrs. Fathima Aziz, this event promises an engaging evening to highlight the hidden gems within the community. Scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo, the ceremony will commence at 6:00 pm.

Four distinguished Lifetime Achievement Awards will add an extra layer of significance to the evening. The event is produced by FunTime (PVT) Ltd. with the renowned, Event Director, Imran Saibo taking charge of the proceedings. The venue has been thoughtfully chosen to accommodate those wishing to perform their Maghreb prayers, ensuring a seamless flow for the event. Attendees can look forward to an elaborate evening of entertainment and a sumptuous dinner buffet, creating lasting memories for all. The music for the evening will be provided by the talented band Catch 22, featuring Nimal Jayamanne, with guest artist Umara Sinhawansa also gracing the stage.

Fusion 14 will debut their pre-Ramadan line of modest clothing during a fashion show at the IMRA Awards Ceremony. Models will showcase this collection alongside an exquisite line of jewellery provided by Sifani Jewellers, adding a touch of glamour to the event.

KPMG has diligently reviewed the applications received before shortlisting names for the esteemed panel of judges. These judges, experts in their respective fields, will make the final decisions on the winners. The response has been overwhelming, with a record number of applications pouring in from all corners of the island. Each contender has made significant strides within their respective niches, contributing meaningfully to society. Despite the high level of achievement, due to the inaugural nature of the event, only one award per category will be presented.

The ceremony will be graced by the presence of Her Excellency, Julie Chung, the Ambassador to the USA. The keynote speaker for the evening is the esteemed Deshamanya Radhika Coomaraswamy, a Sri Lankan lawyer, diplomat, and human rights advocate. She served as the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict until July 13, 2012, and holds numerous other accolades.
