The Sri Lanka Leukaemia Foundation (SLLF), a UK-registered charity, is thrilled to announce its upcoming fundraising dinner dance, set to take place on the 15th of June 2024, at the Delta Hotel by Marriott in Windsor, UK. This event celebrates the foundation’s enduring commitment to supporting leukaemia and cancer patient care in Sri Lanka.

A Legacy of Support

Founded in 2008 by the late Shiranthi Peiris and a dedicated group of Sri Lankans in the UK, SLLF (UK) has grown into a vibrant organization with over thirty members. The foundation takes pride in its significant contributions, having donated over £180,000 worth of medical equipment, patient care, and essential cancer medicines to Apeksha Hospital (National Cancer Institute) in Maharagama, Sri Lanka’s premier cancer treatment facility.

Partnerships and Achievements

For more than seventeen years, SLLF (UK) has partnered with Apeksha Hospital, supporting it through donations and various fundraising initiatives. Recent contributions include:

  • Essential Hospital Equipment: 35 beds and interior curtains for the new paediatric ward, totalling Rs. 8.5 million.
  • IT Infrastructure: Desktop computers, barcode readers, printers, and networking devices to enhance the patient record system, totalling Rs. 4 million.
  • Medical Devices: An Argon Electrosurgery machine worth Rs. 6 million, blood transfusion pumps, vacuum bags, valves, and an upgraded lab information system.
  • Cancer Medicines: In response to urgent needs, the foundation provided vital cancer medicines in 2022.

A Renewed Image and Modern Outreach

To extend its reach and strengthen its online presence, SLLF (UK) has launched a refreshed brand and an updated website. Designed to improve functionality and user experience, the new site reflects the foundation's contemporary and flexible approach. In its ongoing commitment to support the cancer hospital, SLLF is also introducing a series of innovative fundraising projects and initiatives to mobilize support and resources for this crucial cause.

Under the leadership of current President Subi Perera, SLLF (UK) is poised for growth and increased impact. The 2024 fundraising committee, led by Gopi Muthuthevar, is dedicated to organizing a vibrant and successful event.
