Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal likely to miss the second Test in Pallekele due to the groin injury—coach Chandika Haturusingha said.  It was confirmed that Chandimal had suffered a grade one groin injury which requires at least 10-14 days to recovery. He has been replaced by uncapped Charith Asalanka in the sqaud while Suranga Lakmal will step in as skipper.

Suranga Lakmal has a 100 percent Test win ratio as captain after leading Sri Lanka to  a historic first win against West Indies in West Indies and 2-0 triumph against South Africa at home.

"Chandimal's injury is grade one tear, and it will take ten to 14 days to recover, so it will be touch and go for the second Test match. We'll wait and see how his body recovers before we make the call. If he is not 100% fit, he may not play. We have to look at a replacement or stand by player for him," coach Hathurusingha said earlier.

Chandimal strained his groin during the first Test in Galle which Sri Lanka lost by 211 runs inside four days on Friday.
