The opening ODI between Sri Lanka and England was abandoned due to wet outfield after heavy rains disrupted proceedings just an hour after the start in Dambulla.
Sri Lanka put England to bat first and visitors were cruising smoothly at 92 for 2 by the 15th over when hevens opens up. The match was called off at 8.15 due to wet outfiled.
England batting first got off to a flying start with Jason Roy(24) and Jonny Bairstow (25) put on 49 runs for the opening wicket but both departed in quick succession with Nuwan Pradee and Akila Dananjaya claiming the wickets. However skipper Eoin Morgan(14 not out) and Joe Root (25 not out) placed them well on 92 by the 15th over before rains interupted play.
The second ODI will be played at the same venue on Saturday.
