The management of Ceylon Roots and Browns Tours in collaboration with the Chauffeur Guide Association of Sri Lanka recently conducted a service briefing programme for selected chauffeur guides and drivers at the Marco Polo Hall in Excel World, Colombo.
Participating on behalf of the Chauffeur Guide Meeting was the association President Srilal Munasinghe. The topics of discussion at the service briefing were the ‘Role of a chauffeur guide’ and the ‘Role of a tourist’, where Munasinghe spoke from his experience as well as industry required standards to cover a variety of service issues and how they should be ideally handled.
Munasinghe reiterated on giving guests more authentic experiences than touristic ones. He added that it is the experience that matters and often looked-for by travellers. Whether it be finding the best possible route to a destination or giving the guests a unique experience, he implored the younger generation of chauffeurs and guides to be humble and learn from their senior counterparts. He further added that it’s never too late to learn and that one must continuously read to stay ahead in this dynamic industry.
The key objective of this training was to iterate the values, expected service norms and beliefs a chauffeur guide should possess. The guides are Sri Lanka’s greatest brand ambassadors as they are the ones who eventually execute the itinerary and ensure that the travellers enjoy their tour. This training organized by Ceylon Roots, which was the second of its kind, was designed to enhance the service levels of our valued brand ambassadors, guiding our travellers across our beautiful tropical isle.
