Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort and Spa celebrates first year anniversary

Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort and Spa, celebrated its first year anniversary with the launch of its golf membership earlier this month, and more recently a most memorable cocktail and dinner event held at the Sunset Beach and Artisan Village. 


The celebrations brought together valued partners for the resort, including travel industry partners from Sri Lanka tourism, travel agents and loyal guests, under the theme of ‘We are One’, expressing togetherness. 


The recent cocktail reception gathered over 60 guests in a stunning setting under the stars by the resort’s beachfront. The dinner that followed was held at The Artisan Village, with its most captivating ambiance. During the day, The Artisan Village is dedicated to supporting and preserving Sri Lanka’s unique art and craft as guests watch and engage with local craftsmen as they go about their livelihood. For this special night, the area had been transformed with soothing lighting elements, pretty seating and the sounds of a live musical duo. The evening’s entertainment included another exciting aspect – an ‘Angampora’ show. Angampora is the ancient, indigenous art of Sri Lankan fighting that encompasses skillful body movements and distinctive technique, and is an important element of the island’s history. 


Executive Chef Nonky Tejapermana presented the finest array of delicacies for the guests to relish. Showcasing the skill of her team, was many exciting action stalls serving out the freshest food from gently marinated seafood dishes to dim sum made 
to perfection.


On the We are One celebration, Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort and Spa General Manager Iain McCormack said, “It has been an immensely rewarding year for my team and I, and we are happy to share this milestone with our most valued guests and travel industry partners who each have been pivotal in our success within a short time”. He elaborated, “We are very excited about the next year to come, and look forward to working closely with each of you towards more 
successful partnerships.”
