Amagi Lagoon Resort and Spa is a four-star hotel located within seven kilometres to Bandaranaike International Airport. The hotel, which was established about four years ago, fronts the Negombo lagoon and offers 21 rooms, 19 standard rooms with one superior room and one deluxe room, which could accommodate up to four guests. The rooms are equipped with the necessary modern facilities and amenities including hot/cold water, AC, satellite television and free Wi-Fi.

Due to its proximity to the airport, Amagi Lagoon is the ideal destination for transitory guests to relax and refresh themselves after arriving from the airport or before departing to the airport.

Additionally, Amagi Lagoon is fast becoming a fitting location to host a wedding. Departing from the traditional one-story banquet hall, Amagi Lagoon offers a two-tier banquet hall, which can house up to 350 guests, with the latest in lighting systems along with other facilities. The banquet hall also makes the hotel an ideal location for business organisations to hold training programmes and conferences.

The hotel has a spacious dining area and offers a tree house where around eight to 10 guests can comfortably consume their meals. Amagi Lagoon also makes use of the lagoon and offers guests to dine on the lagoon, making use of a boat, which can carry about 20 guests out to the middle of the lagoon, which has a maximum depth of about three feet.

The hotel also offers swimming pool, gym and spa facilities, with the spa being outsourced to an international company, which offer a holistic experience. The company also brings in different doctors for treatments and markets a ‘medical tour’ where patients from overseas can come to Amagi Lagoon and receive treatments while on holiday.

With the growth in popularity, Amagi Lagoon is making preparations to accommodate more guests within the premises in the future. Amagi Lagoon CEO M.U. Lantra stated that constructions for a building containing 48 additional rooms are underway. The construction work is expected to be concluded around June 2016.

The new building would also consist of a rooftop fine dining seafood restaurant. The hotel is already recognized for its ‘A’ grade seafood. Resident Manager cum Executive Chef K.D. Dudley Nanayakkara stated that the hotel is in the process of creating a better menu and hopes to transform the new restaurant to become a leading seafood restaurant.

With an experienced team at the kitchen, Amagi Lagoon is equipped to offer any kind of cuisine. Nanayakkara stated that the hotel is introducing theme dining including ‘Sri Lankan Night’ on Fridays, ‘Chinese Action’ on Saturdays and Sunday Buffet Lunch.

Amagi Lagoon also has a two-star hotel, Amagi Beach in Marawila. Lantra also stated that a new land has been purchased nearer to the airport to build a 125-bedroomed property with a banquet hall. The constructions are expected to commence once the current construction work at Amagi Lagoon are completed.
With the lagoon offering wonderful views, the hotel is also an ideal location for individual guests to entertain friends and unwind.
