Oman Air has been named as the winner of the ‘Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East’ award at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2015.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Paris Air Show recently. It recognises the commitment of Oman Air’s staff to providing the airline’s customers with quality, comfort and a seamless passenger experience.

Oman Air also achieved acclaim in six further categories of the awards. The airline’s renowned Business Class service attained top-10 places in the ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline’, ‘Best Business Class Airline Seats’, ‘Best Business Class Airline Catering’ and ‘Best Business Class Comfort Amenities’

categories. Oman Air also achieved top-10 places in the ‘Best First Class Airline Catering’ and ‘Best Economy Class Airline Seats’ categories of the awards.
Oman Air Chief Operating Officer Abdulrahaman Al-Busaidy commented, “We are delighted that Oman Air has been recognised by the World Airline Awards for our outstanding staff service. To have won this award two years in a row and to have achieved high rankings in a further six categories of the awards this year, is testament to the extraordinarily high standards of hospitality that our staff offer to all our customers. That hospitality is an extension of Omani culture, so this award is recognition not only of Oman Air’s service but also of the warm welcome offered to every visitor to Oman.

Furthermore, the timing of this award could not have been more appropriate. We are currently engaged in a programme of expansion that will see us operate 70 aircraft to around 75 destinations by 2020. In recent months we have increased the size of our fleet and launched new services to Manila, Jakarta, Goa and Singapore. We have also increased frequencies on a number of established routes and we plan to unveil more new destinations later in the year. As a result, many thousands more customers will have the opportunity to experience Oman Air’s award-winning staff service.”

The World Airline Awards provide the most prestigious accolades available within the air travel industry. Not only are they entirely independent of any commercial pressures, but they are voted for by the industry’s most exacting and demanding judges – air travellers. The World Airline Awards therefore offer an unparalleled benchmark for the quality of the products and services that airlines offer and it is an honour to receive this acclaim.

Oman Air Chief Officer Management Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Raisi said, “It was a great honour to accept this prestigious award on behalf of Oman Air. This year’s award of ‘Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East’ follows wins in the same category in 2011 and 2014. In addition, Oman Air won ‘Best Business Class Seat in the World’ in 2011 and 2012. As Oman Air pursues its current ambitious programme of expansion, it has continued to receive awards from industry bodies, consumer groups and publications around the world.”

Skytrax’s World Airline Awards are based on the results of a survey of some 18 million travellers from more than 160 countries, in what is described as the only truly global, independent passenger survey of airline standards. Covering more than 200 airlines, it analyses customer satisfaction for the overall airline passenger experience across more than 40 areas on the ground and in the air, from check-in to boarding, seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages, in-flight entertainment and staff service.

Notably, the carrier was recently honoured at the World Travel Awards, where it was awarded ‘Best Business Class Airline – Middle East 2015’ and ‘Best Economy Class Airline – Middle East 2015’. In addition, Oman Air was named ‘World’s Leading Economy Class Airline 2014’. Oman Air has also claimed ‘Best Luxury Airline, Middle East’ at this year’s Business Destinations Awards, following success in the same category in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
