Yupun Abeykoon who was crowned the fastest man in South Asia recently added another feather to his cap by winning a bronze medal at an international meeting in Switzerland.

This is the second international medal won during a fortnight by Abeykoon who broke the South Asia and Sri Lanka record by clocking 10.16 seconds in Germany.

Abeykoon had to settle for a bronze on Wednesday after clocking 10.24 seconds in Switzerland. The gold medal was won by South Africa’s Akani Simbine (10.02) while Italy’s Filippo Tortu (10.07) secured the silver medal.

The event gold medallist Akani won the gold medal at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games while Italian Filippo won a silver medal at the World Junior Athletic Championship.
