Ayomal Akalanka of Ambagamuwa Central College, Ambagamuwa won a bronze medal at the 5th Asian youth (U-18) Athletic Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Sunday.

Akalanka clocked a personal best of 51.40 seconds in the Boys 400m hurdles final to clinch third position. 

Mahamat Abakar (50.91) of Qatar won the gold medal while Bapi Sansda (51.38) claimed the silver medal.

Sri Lanka won a total of four medals (two silver and two bronze medals) at this Championship.

Sri Lanka team will arrive in Sri Lanka on May 2 early morning.
