Army’s Suranga, Kadirana CC’s Susantha bags men’s U23, over-50 titles


The fifth and sixth of the seven Nestomalt Cycle Challenge events organised by the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka with the blessings of the Ministry of Sports and sponsored by Nestle Lanka PLC under the brand Nestomalt held around the vicinity of Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, which was the Men Under 24 Distance of 38km and Men’s Over 50 Distance of 28km events saw Suranga Perera of Army and Susantha de Silva of Kadirana Speed CC took the first spot with a timing of 58.29secs and 47.02secs respectively.

In the junior events the winner was Suranga Perera, followed by Kalpa Rasanjana of Navy, Chamath Abisheka of Air Force, Vihanga Fernando and M.R.H.M. Silva both of Army.

In the Men’s Over 50 event Susantha de Silva of Kadirana Speed CC reach the winning post in a thrilling contest followed by M.M. Mohideen of Speed Arrow CC, Kamal Palitha of United CC, W.D. Rohitha of Kelani CC and C. Kandanaarachchi of Independent CC who all ended with the identical timing of 47.02secs. (Shamil Amit)

Silva (Army - 58.41); Men Over 50 Distance 28km - 1 Susantha de Silva (Kadirana Speed CC - 47.02), 2. M.M. Mohideen (Speed Arrow CC - 47.02), 3. Kamal Palitha (United CC -47.02), 4. W.D. Rohitha (Kelani CC - 47.02), 5. C. Kandanaarachchi (Independent CC - 47.02).
