Indian golfer Manoj and Kaya in the lead

Indian golfer, Manoj Sreerammappa and Sri Lanka’s top female golfer Kaya Daluwatte had great starts at the 133rd Sri Lankan Amateur Open Golf Championship, which commenced at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Course, drawing some of the finest talents from Sri Lanka and the Asian region.

After day 2, this tournament will transition into match play, with only the top 32 players advancing.

At the end of day 1, Sreerammappa leads the scoreboard, delivering an impressive performance with a gross score of 67, showing precision and control that set him apart from the field. 
Trailing close behind is Varun Muthappa, who carded a 70 while Shayaan Khadri finished in third place with a solid score of 72.

Jacob Norton, returning from his recent Thai golf experience, ended up at number seven, which was commendable.

Daluwatte led the field with an impressive gross score of 76, showing her consistency and precision. Following her was Anouk Chitty, who finished with a gross score of 83 and Jade Jiggens, who recorded a gross score of 86. 

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka ‘A’ Team and Pakistan outfits are competing for the Zia-Ul-Haq Trophy at the same event. The visiting team holds a one-stroke lead over the Sri Lankans. Pakistan’s Raja Muhammad Israt posted a solid 74 and Malik Shoaib carded a 72, bringing their combined score to 146. 

The Sri Lankan ‘A’ Team consisting of Chalitha Pushpika and Chanaka Perera scored 147.
