118th Battle of Lovers Quarrel

Skipper Dhanuja Induwara and Sri Lanka Under 19 player Dinura Kalupahana shone for Mahinda College on day one of the 118th Battle of Lovers Quarrel against traditional rivals Richmond College played at the Galle International Stadium.

Unduwara made a 120 ball knock of 109 that included eight boundaries and a six while Kalupahana hit a breezy 75 in 59 balls which had 11 boundaries and a six and shared an opening wicket stand of 125 runs with Pramesh Madubashana for Mahinda taking first lease of the wicket to make a formidable score of 316 for 8 declared.

Richmond in their turn facing 20.3 overs ended the day on 74 for 3. The match will be continued tomorrow. By M. Shamil Amit
