An allround performance by skipper Sahan Kaushalya paved the way for Colombo South U19 to record a comfortable five wicket win over Colombo North U19 in the Sri Lanka Youth League U19 limited over tournament encounter played at the Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.

Colombo North U19 skipper Inuka Karannagoda winning the toss and electing to take first lease of the wicket was made to struggle for their runs and was in a spot of bother having lost their top five batsmen with 90 runs on the board with Kaushalya doing the damage. Later he was supported by Achala Perera as the pair combined to share the wickets to bowl out their opponents for a low score of 138 runs.

Colombo South U19 in their run chase fell into deep trouble as opening bowling pair Vishwa Dhananjaya and Kaveesha Mendis sent them reeling to 10 for 4 in the sixth over before skipper Kaushalya who remained unbeaten on 54 and Deneth Priyanga who made 47 rescued them with a valuable fourth wicket stand of 96 runs which followed with Sahan and Akash Fernando sharing an unbroken stand of 34 runs for Colombo South U19 to race to the target in the 35th over.

The tournament which got underway yesterday is being contested by five teams Colombo North U19, Colombo South U19, Kandy U19, Galle U19 and Dambulla U19. Two matches are down for decision today scheduled to be played at Galle and Maggona.
