Sri Lanka ‘A’ clinched the three-match unofficial ODI series against South Africa ‘A’ with a game to spare as they registered a convincing 31-run win in the second game played at Potchefstroom.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka Skipper Pasindu Sooriyabandara opted to bat first with an unchanged playing XI.
Kamil Mishara and Lahiru Udara opened the innings for the visitors but their stay at the crease lasted only six overs as the former departed after making only 10 runs.
The previous game’s top scorer Nuwanidu Fernando lost his wicket for just two runs while Skipper Sooriyabandara contributed only 21 runs.
With Sri Lanka in a spot of bother at 85 for three, Udara and Sahan Arachchige gave impetus to the innings, adding 72 runs for the fourth wicket.
Udara was the top scorer for Sri Lanka as he made 86 runs off 95 balls with 11 fours and a six while Arachchige hit 52 runs off 56 balls with four fours and a six.
Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Sonal Dinusha finished things off with crucial knocks off 48 and 37 not out respectively helping the visitors post another solid total on the board.
In reply, the hosts were bowled out for 239 as wrist-spinner and Man-of-the-Match Dushan Hemantha ripped through the South African batting line-up with a five-wicket haul.
The third and final unofficial ODI between the two sides will be played today at the same venue.
